Portrait Commissions - Terms and Conditions
Please allow four to six weeks for completion and delivery (more at busy times) and extra time if you are intending to have it framed, otherwise you will need to agree a specific date at the time of booking, if it is required more urgently.

There is a 40% deposit at the time of booking, because all commissions are bespoke items made specifically for you the deposit is non-returnable. This is to ensure the painting is not already underway and a customer were to change their mind. In the highly unlikely event you are not happy with the result after seeing the image of the finished painting, no further payment will be requested.

Order cancellation:  Unfortunately, portrait orders cannot be cancelled once I have received your order and have started work on your portrait.

The balance is payable on approval of the emailed or posted image of the finished commission. The artwork remains my property until this payment has cleared in full.

Payment can be made by cheque, or debit or credit card through Pay Pal. I am Paypal verified and all online payments are handled securely through Paypal. There is no charge to send a payment through Paypal and you don't even have to have a Paypal account.

Post & packing costs are not included in the prices for animal portrait commissions, this varies according to delivery method, and whether the painting is framed or not..

I keep a digital image of each finished artwork for reference, and this may also be used for future promotion and publicity purposes possibly with the name of the animal. However, please let me know at the time of booking if you would prefer me not to use the image in any publicity and I will not do so.

Photos sent by email are preferred, but if you send hard copies by post, I advise you not to send your only copies as although they will be looked after and returned, I cannot guarantee the safety of your property.

Damaged artwork:  Every effort is taken to ensure your portrait arrives safely and on time. Please open and check your order upon receipt and report any damages within 3 days.

In the unlikely event your portrait arrives damaged please contact me within 3 days of receipt. Please take photos of the damage. Please return the item/s in the original packaging within 7 days of receipt and I will fix or replace your portrait. It is important to return your order by a tracked service as we cannot be held responsible for any items lost in transit.
Artist’s copyright

I retain the copyright and reproduction rights of all my work (in keeping with the law on Artists Copyright). However for pet portraits, because the animal is so personal to you, I would not normally have a problem with you using the image again for your own personal use, but excluding any use for commercial purposes.
